Welcome to the XXIX Convencion de Ferromodelistas y Ferroaficionados de la Republica Mexicana - Hermosillo 2026

Every year a model train and railfan convention is held in selected cities in the Mexican Republic. For 2026, the convention will be held in the capital city of Hermosillo, Sonora! Located only 3 hours south of the Arizona border by car or less than 3 hours from Mexico City by Airplane, Hermosillo has a lot to offer. This convention will offer visitors a wide range of activities from learning about the history of railroads in Sonora to the hobby of Model trains. This convention promises to share the histories and impact of how the railroads shaped Sonora History. Presenters will highlight the various railroads of Sonora such as the Sonora Railway, Ferrocarril Narcozari, the Southern Pacific of Mexico, Ferrocarril Del Pacifico, Ferrocarril Sonora Baja California, the FNM merger and Ferromex. You learn how many of the cities and towns of Sonora were built and transformed by the railroads. The convention will also have various model train scales running on various layouts with beautiful scenery. Learn about this hobby and all the different scales from Z, N, HO, O, and G. Workshops for children will also be available making this a wonderful family friendly event. Scholars and Students from academia will be invited to help provide historical context on the railroads. We welcome all railroad employees both from the past and present to share their stories and experiences. Our Goal is providing our visitors with a wonderful experience about Sonora History with the not only the people of Sonora but the World.

Agenda

The Hermosillo Convention will be held from August 6 to August 10.The agenda is still in the planning phase, but activities will include workshops, modular train layouts, presentations, visit to multiple museums and site locations at Empalme, Guaymas and Benjamin Hill. The Casa de la Cultura de Sonora will host the convestion located at Av Cultura SN-S, Villa de Seris, 83270 Hermosillo, Son., Mexico. South of the Downtown
